vSite Web Tools: Sketches (KB-ST001)

Overview

Sketches in AR will appear in vSite Web, the latest expansion to the vGIS platform. When saved, your records will appear both in the Admin Portal but significantly in vSite Web where your team can understand the full depth of the sketches made on the job site for others to see.

Application (Adding Sketches)

In vSite Web, go to Sketches located on the top left-hand menu, the list of recorded sketches will now appear. Use the Search Bar to open a specific sketch entry or browse through the most recent sketches. Note: After a sketch is selected form the menu, all subcategories will populate beneath the sketch name. Users can use the multi-select tool to enable or disable multiple sketches at once.

Also in the top-left menu, you will see a "+Add" to start a new sketch. The following will detail each sketch feature that can communicate back digital images to the field. 

Adding Points

After selecting “+Add”,  select the Points tool in the right-hand menu. Begin your point selection by clicking the respected area directly on the base map. Note: Every click will enter a new point subcategory under the sketch name.

Once a point is set, the information card for that point will appear, where Description, color, shape, and Offset size can be modified. 

Adding Line/Distance

Once again, users will start adding a line by selecting the Line/Distance tool from the right-hand menu. This time, when the initial point is selected from the base map, the information card will appear for initial registration. To continue creating the line, close the information card and select the second point, this will create a straight line from both points.

Note: Users can add endless amounts of connecting lines. When the third and subsequent points are entered, users can change direction and length to make intricate designs and sketches. When completed, select the Cursor tool to enter the line. Click the new shape with the Cursor to bring up the information card.

Adding An Area

The process to an areas in vSite are similar to the process for adding a line. The difference is once a shape is created, the area between all points will be filled with color. After saving the sketch, open the area's information card to change color.

Information Card Tips

Information cards have more functionality than just the customization ability listed above. Rename a sketch from its default label. Use Zoom to Object to bring the sketch to the center of the screen. Close will disable the menu and lose any unsaved changes.

Deleting Sketches

When ready to delete a sketch there are two options:

1. In the left search menu, hover over a specific sketch subcategory and select the Trash button.
2. In the sketch's information card, the Trash button will be located at the top-right corner
