vSite Scan: User Guide (KB-AM024)
If you're using vSite exclusively for 3D scanning, you can quickly access this feature without opening vSite AR. Below is the step by step workflow:
Getting Started
- Open the vSite Scan application. You’ll be greeted by the main scanner screen.
- Before scanning, let’s review the three available scan modes:
Normal: Lets you manually start and stop each scan, review the results, and submit them when you're satisfied. This mode provides full control over processing and submission.
Continuous: Enables seamless, continuous scanning with a single button press, optimizing the process for large areas.
Point Cloud: Generates a point cloud only (unlike the other two modes, which also create a 3D mesh). This mode is ideal for capturing thin objects, such as cables crossing a trench.
Scanning Process
- Tap the red button to begin scanning.
- As you scan a surface, any red-highlighted areas will disappear, indicating that the area has been successfully captured. Note: In Point Cloud mode, you will see individual points collected by the scanner.
- Once the scan is complete, you’ll see a preview of your scan.
Processing & Uploading
If you used Normal or Continuous mode, you can process the scan to enhance its quality. To upload your scan:
- Log in using the login button in the top-left corner.
- Select the team where the scans will be stored.
- Press "Upload to vSite".
- Your scan will be available in vSite AR and vSite Web within 30-45 seconds.
Reviewing & Managing Scans
To review previous scans, tap the "Scans" button. You can re-upload or reprocess scans as needed. If you're not satisfied with a scan or need to capture more data, you can rescan the area. This streamlined workflow ensures fast, accurate, and efficient 3D scanning with vSite Scan.
