Once in the augmented reality view, the user will be able to view 3D holographic overlays of BIM and GIS data that have been superimposed over their device’s real-world view (Fig. 1).
The infrastructure around you will be shown in full 3D. Objects will appear either as symbols, such as vertical cylinders marking the center of an object, or as lines, pipes, and areas. Manholes and water inlets will be displayed as concrete cylinders or "boxes" with a colourful cover indicating the top.
For objects located at the street level (no elevation), a base circle indicating the object base is shown. All objects above or below the street level will have trace lines or "bulls-eye" circles placed at the location where the object meets the surface of the road. The trace lines (dashed lines) help visually identify the depth and position of the underlying pipe.
The crosshair allows users to select, and preview objects while in augmented reality. While the crosshair is hovering over an object, an object bubble will appear at the bottom of the screen, and the system will display:
- The depth of the object (the reading appears under the object)
- The distance to the object (the reading appears beside the object)
Please note: The type and the serial number are examples of information that can be defined as the header. The header is defined by your company's administrator through the Admin Portal.
The first line of the object bubble will list the object type, while the second line will provide the user-defined specifics of the object (e.g. object ID, object material, etc.).
Tapping on the object bubble will open the object’s information card. See Object Information Cards.
Positioning Adjustments and Accuracy
In certain circumstances, the calibration process may not provide an accurate representation of the user’s position in 3-dimensional space. These imperfections may occur due to certain light conditions, how an individual holds their device, or from unexpected movements during the calibration process. The micro-adjustments feature allows users to make small, manual adjustments to improve the display accuracy of their device.
If enabled in the options menu, the accuracy window will appear below the adjustment button. By default, this window appears in the collapsed view. However, it will expand if tapped by the user (Fig. 1).
If enabled in the options menu, the accuracy window will appear below the adjustment button. The accuracy bubble displays the accuracy of the GIS data on their screen in either meters or feet (See Main Menu > Units of Measurement).
The grey gauge (as displayed) indicates that no GNSS device is connected. The green gauge indicates an accuracy of 0.1 meters (0.3 feet) or less, while the yellow gauge indicates an accuracy of 1.0 meter (3.3 feet) or less. An accuracy of greater than 1.0 meter is represented by the red gauge.
