vSite Web: Sketches

Overview

The Sketches feature in vSite Web extends the capabilities of vSite AR by allowing field sketches to be accessed, reviewed, and managed from the browser. Once saved, sketches created in AR are synced automatically and become visible both in the Admin Portal and in vSite Web, enabling your team to review field insights, share information, and collaborate remotely.

How To

View and Manage Sketches

  1. Open vSite Web and click Sketches in the top-left menu.

  2. A list of recorded sketches will appear.

  3. Use the Search Bar to find a specific sketch or browse recent entries.

  4. After selecting a sketch, its subcategories will appear nested beneath the sketch name.

  5. Use the multi-select tool to enable or disable the visibility of multiple sketches at once.

Create a New Sketch

  1. Click +Add from the top-left menu.

  2. Use tools in the right-hand menu to begin sketching (Fig. 2):

    1. Points

    2. Line/Distance

    3. Area

Each type of sketch can be customized and synced with the AR environment.

Adding Points

  1. Click +Add, then select the Points tool in the right-hand menu (Fig. 2A).

  2. Click a location on the base map to place a point.

  3. Each point will be listed as a subcategory under the sketch name.

  4. An Information Card will appear, where you can:

    • Enter a description

    • Change the color or shape

    • Set an offset size

Adding Lines / Distances

  1. Select the Line/Distance tool from the right-hand menu (Fig. 2B).

  2. Click a location on the base map to place the first point.

  3. Fill out the Information Card, then close it to continue.

  4. Click again to place a second point and draw a straight line.

  5. Continue clicking to add more segments. You can:

    • Change direction

    • Extend line lengths

    • Create complex geometries

  6. When finished, select the Cursor tool to finalize.

  7. Click the shape to reopen its Information Card for edits.

Adding Areas

  1. Select the Area tool from the right-hand menu (Fig. 2C).

  2. Place multiple points on the map to define a closed shape.

  3. The area inside the shape will automatically be filled with color.

  4. Save the sketch, then open the Information Card to:

    • Change the fill color

    • Edit metadata

Using Information Cards

Information Cards provide additional tools and customization for each sketch element:

  • Rename sketches

  • Use Zoom to Object to center the item on the screen

  • Select Close to exit the card (unsaved changes will be lost)

Deleting Sketches

You can delete a sketch in two ways:

  1. From the left menu: Hover over a sketch subcategory and click the Trash icon.

  2. From the Information Card: Click the Trash icon in the top-right corner.
