vSite Scan: Scanning Modes
Overview
vSite Scan offers three distinct scanning modes to suit different workflows and data requirements. Choosing the right mode for your project will enhance your scanning experience.
Scan Mode Selection
The scan mode can be viewed and changed by selecting the desired scan mode at the bottom of the screen (Fig. 1).

Normal Mode
Normal Mode is the default scanning option in vSite Scan. This mode creates a point cloud and a 3D mesh of the scanned area providing high levels of both accuracy and visual representation. This mode is ideal when you need a clear visual representation of an object or small to mid-sized area.
Continuous Mode
Continuous Mode provides the same output as Normal Mode: a point cloud and 3D mesh of the scanned area. Unique to Continuous Mode is upon reaching the size limit for a single scan, the next scan will automatically begin. This allows the user to seamlessly scan large areas without needing to restart the scanning process.
Point Cloud Mode
Point Cloud Mode creates only a point cloud and not a 3D mesh. This mode is useful when a 3D mesh is not required by the user, and can be a useful mode for capturing thin objects such as wires crossing a trench.
