vSite Admin Portal: Data Source Folders
Overview
The Admin Portal now supports organizing project data into folders instead of only using layer groups. Folders help improve project organization and performance by grouping related data sources together. Nested folders are supported, but only one level deep.
How To: Create and Manage Folders
In the Admin Portal, navigate to the Data page of your project (Fig. 1).
In the Layers pane, click Add Folder.
Enter a folder name.
Add your data sources to the folder.
Adding Data and Nested Folders
- Drag data and folders by the 6-dot drag icon.
- Drop them into your preferred folders.
Visibility Controls
Eye Icon – Controls the default visibility of the folder and its contents. This is useful for large folders that may slow performance; keep them turned off by default until needed.
Checkbox – Toggles whether the folder or data source is enabled in the project.
Removing Folders from Projects
To remove a folder from a project:
Disable it using the checkbox.
Click Save to apply changes.
Deleting Folders
To delete folders completely:
Move all contents from the folder
Right-click the folder
Click delete.
Supplementary Information
Nested Folders: Only one folder can exist inside another (e.g., Folder 1 → Folder 2). Additional nesting (Folder 3 inside Folder 2) is not supported.
Example: In the screenshot, Folder 1 contains Folder 2 and Custom 1. Folder 2 contains Custom 2.
Performance Tip: Keep very large folders invisible by default to improve load times when opening a project.
