vSite Admin Portal: Geolocating Sheets
How to Geolocate a Sheet
Geolocating aligns your sheet with real-world coordinates so it can be used in map and AR views.
- Right-click the sheet and select Geolocate (Fig. 1)
- You will see:
- The sheet on the left
- The map view on the right (Fig. 2)
Standard Method
- Click a known point on the sheet
- Click the corresponding point on the map
- Repeat this process for a second point
The system will automatically align and scale the sheet based on these points (Fig. 2).
If you need to make adjustments to your reference points, there are two ways you can do this:
Redo Point: Click the red X beside the point information at the bottom of the screen. This will clear the point on your pdf and on the map so you can redo it from scratch.
Manual Adjustment: The red pinpoints on the map can be manually moved for finer adjustments when a full re-do may not be necessary.
Using Control Points (More Precise)
If your sheet includes control points:
- Select the control point on the sheet
- Enter its exact coordinates
This method provides higher accuracy than manual point selection.
Geolocation Tools
While geolocating, you can also:
- Adjust transparency
- Helps you see both the sheet and the map for better alignment
- Crop the sheet
- Remove unnecessary borders, legends, or reference details
- Focus only on the relevant area for field use
Additional Information
- Geolocation saves between sessions and across versions of the same sheet
- The map icon under the Sheet column indicates whether or not your sheets are georeferenced (Fig. 3)
- If the icon is grey and crossed out, your sheet is not yet georeferenced
If the icon is blue, the sheet is georeferenced
