vSite Admin Portal: Configuration Using Workpacks
Overview
Workpack Configuration provides an alternative way to group together key elements or models within a datasource. This is especially useful for large or complex datasets, where models share both common and unique elements.
For example, in the diagram below:
Models A and B contain some shared elements (Workpacks 1–3).
Model B also contains unique elements (Workpacks 4–5).
This grouping enables users to filter, manage, and interact with data more effectively in vSite.
| Model A | Model B | |
| "Workpack 1" | Element 1 | Element 1 |
| "Workpack 2" | Element 2 | Element 2 |
| "Workpack 3" | Element 3 | Element 3 |
| "Workpack 4" | Element 4 | |
| "Workpack 5" | Element 5 |
How To Configure Workpacks
Step 1: Prepare Models
Ensure the structure of your datasource has a consistent naming convention or a standardized field (e.g., location, module, phase).
If multiple models use uniform field values, they will be seamlessly grouped during the Workpack process.
Step 2: Add Datasource in the Admin Portal
Log in to the vSite Admin Portal.
-
Add a new 3D or BIM Model datasource.
Step 3: Select “Split Model By” Field
Navigate to the Model Level in the Admin Portal.
From the available options, choose the attribute/field you want to use as the basis for splitting the model into Workpacks (Fig. 1).
Step 4: Process Datasource
After selecting the desired Workpack field, process (or reprocess) the datasource.
Confirm that the models are now grouped according to your chosen Workpack configuration.

Enable/Disable Workpacks by Project
At the Project menu, under the Assets tab (Fig. 2):
You can verify which Workpacks are enabled.
Disable any unnecessary or redundant Workpacks created during the grouping process.
This ensures a clean, manageable set of Workpacks tailored to your project needs.
