vSite AR: Redlines

Before using redlining in the field, make sure redlining is enabled for the project in the Admin Portal.

Once redlining is enabled:

  1. Open the AR app.
  2. Connect your GNSS receiver.
  3. Confirm that you are receiving high-accuracy positioning.
  4. Select your desired mode:
    • AR Mode (camera-based)
    • Map Mode (non-camera, pole-based)
  5. Go to Tools and select Redlining.
  6. Choose the geometry type:
    • Point
    • Line
    • Polygon

Redlining in AR Mode

In AR mode, redlining is done visually by pointing and placing each vertex where you want it.

  1. Enter AR mode.
  2. Go to Tools > Redlining.
  3. Select your geometry type.
  4. Aim at each desired location and place points as needed.
  5. After placing your geometry, configure the redline details:
    • Status: New, Installed, Removed, Abandoned, Relocated, or Proposed
    • Cost Code: Based on cost codes configured in the Admin Portal
    • Colour: Select the desired colour
    • Notes: Add any relevant notes
  6. Tap Save.

Once saved, the redline is added to the project.

Redlining in Map Mode

In map mode, redlining is collected without using the camera view. Instead, points are captured using a pole.

  1. Enter Map mode.
  2. Go to Tools > Redlining.
  3. Select your geometry type.
  4. Move to the location you want to collect.
  5. Place the pole at the point.
  6. Ensure pole height is configured correctly in Settings.
  7. Choose one of the following collection methods:

Auto-Collect

  • Keep the pole steady for a few seconds.
  • Once the iPad is level, the point will be collected automatically.

Manual Placement

  • Turn Auto-Collect off.
  • Tap Place each time you want to record a point.
  1. Continue placing points for your geometry.
  2. After placing your geometry, configure the redline details:
    • Status: New, Installed, Removed, Abandoned, Relocated, or Proposed
    • Cost Code: Based on cost codes configured in the Admin Portal
    • Colour: Select the desired colour
    • Notes: Add any relevant notes
  3. Tap Save.

Once saved, the redline is added to the project and can be toggled on and off in the Layers tab.

Viewing Redlines

After saving, redlines can be viewed in VSite Web.
