vSite AR: Stakeouts
The vSite AR Stakeouts tool allows users to perform GNSS-guided stakeouts directly in the field.
Before performing a stakeout, please note that not all datasources are supported by the Stakeouts tool. The asset must be a vector point or line, which can either be from a datasource configured in the Admin Portal, or a Redline collected in the field.
Stakeouts in Map Mode
To perform stakeouts in Map Mode, open the tools menu and select Stakeouts (Fig. 1).
Select an asset you would like perform a stakeout on. Once selected, an arrow will point in the direction of the object and a callout will show your distance to the object (Fig. 2)
Once you get within 1 meter of the object, arrows will appear around the object showing more precisely which way you need to move in order to find the asset (Fig. 3). The dark grey circle in the middle of the screen shows a zoomed in view of the area. Once the desired object is located right in the center of this circle, you have successfully performed the stakeout.
Stakeouts in AR Mode
The process for performing a stakeout in AR Mode is very similar to Map Mode. After opening the tools menu and selecting Stakeouts (Fig. 1), you will once again be prompted to select an asset.
Once you get close to the object, arrows will appear around the object showing which direction you need to move (Fig. 4). The dark grey circle at the bottom of the screen shows a zoomed in view of the area. Once the desired object is located right in the center of this circle, you have successfully performed the stakeout.
Tips and Best Practices
- Map Mode yields higher accuracy results than AR mode
- Use a survey pole for stakeouts to ensure highest accuracy
- Turn off unused layers to improve performance and reduce visual clutter
